Update: annexe Anzere
One of our first projects has been reanimated recently. In 2016 we designed a compact and cozy alpine guesthouse, as an annex to a generous villa. The current iteration is an even more compact version, customised to fit the needs of the owner for writing his memoires and to redraw from busy family life at times. Project page here.
On June 1st. we moved our office to a new space just around the corner, taking both the kitchen and our demountable meeting space by Just In Case to our new address: Paul van Vlissingenstraat 2D. We still have two desks for rent so if you’re interested please drop us a line.
After three years of preparation finally the construction work for our housing project in Haarlem Schalkwijk has started. In collaboration with Dura Vermeer, Koschuch Architects, Elephant and ZUS the southern end of Schalkwijk will be transformed into a car free ‘city between the trees’. More information here.
Slowly the houses in Utrecht Wisselspoor become visible after removing the scaffolding. These first four, clad in fiber cement panels, will be followed by a series of brick and wooden houses and an apartment block. Together a pallet of materials that fit in with the industrial character of the new neighbourhood. More information here.
New project: CLT house Reeuwijk
For a beautiful site on an island in Reeuwijk we will be designing a freestanding, zero-energy, bio-based single family house constructed in cross laminated timber (CLT). We are exited to further explore the potential of building bio-based, circular and with high standards in energy efficiency.
The detail design phase of the housing project in Utrecht Leeuwesteyn has started. After winning the tender for plot 13a we optimised the overall scheme and are currently working on the design and detailing of the brick patterns that play an important role in the Art Deco themed neighbourhood.
Finalist: kavel 1 IJburg
In collaboration with GG real Estate and Studioninedots we were selected as finalist for the IJburg kavel 1 tender in Amsterdam. Our design ‘Nest’ proposes an integrated nature-inclusive living-landscape based on a rotated grid that creates an iconic building profile. With gardens and trees at different levels throughout the building, nature is always at arm’s reach.
New project: micro housing Enka
We have been commissioned to design ten small housing units and a bar in a former first-aid building of the Enka factory in Ede. Building on our previous designs for comfortable small-scale living, we wil focus on designing ten functional boxes that define the spaces. These prefabricated wooden boxes allow to be placed in the listed monumental building without affecting the monumental elements.
Update: WFC sketch design
We submitted the sketch design for the four wooden office buildings in Ede. Three of the four buildings are directly informed by the shape and rhythm of the wings of the former military building, reflecting it in the opposite facades. The design has been positively reviewed by the Quality Team and we will move into the next phase soon.
New project: Ketelhuis
As a second project on the site of the World Food Centre in Ede we have been asked to make a proposal for renovating and transforming a listed monumental heating plant into a bar/restaurant. The ambition is to extend the introverted building in order to create a welcoming gesture at the edge of the forest and the former parade ground.
